How Chocolate is made

How is chocolate made ? Making chocolate is not an easy task and it is not a game for kids but the procedure is very difficult and time taking if we consider its start from the cacao tree. Yes, the cacao tree is the tropical plant found mostly in Africa and southern Mexico but it is planted and harvested in all other tropical areas of the world.  To climb up a tree is very difficult so first thing you must know about how is chocolate made is the root which is the cacao tree. So as I was saying that it is very hard to climb on a tropical tree in jungles, people usually harvest them in the form of orchids.

After the tress start to ripe the fruits which are just like the rugby ball pods white in color holding about thirty to forty seeds in it.  These pods do not grow among leaves but are attached with branches and trunks of cacao tree.  In the season of blossom, they are separated from the tree and the seeds are separated from the white shall which can be further used for eating or mix with drinks because it has very nice flavor but the seeds are very bitter in taste and flavors and it is almost impossible to eat them in raw form.

So they are left for the process of fermentation for about two weeks. In this process the sugar turns it property into acidic and the color of the seeds turn into dark brown. For fermentation process, they are covered in banana leafs or hidden under earth for a time period. After its fermentation it is further dried and the beans are ready to sell in the market. It was the first phase of how is chocolate made.

In the next step of how is chocolate made is the process of roasting the beans to release the perfect flavor they owe in themselves. After this they are grated. The roasting depends on the size of the beans so it can vary that how much times the beans are roasted.

Now they are crushed in order to separate the nibs from the shells or kernels of the pods. Some manufactures use the nibs to provide color and flavor but most of the time, they are used to form a coco liquid that helps to produce the coco butter which is cooked and solidified for further processing. Now all the ingredients extracted from the chocolate beans are mixed together to form a chocolate bar that can be further melted and used in formation of chocolate bars and other chocolate based products.

The process of forming chocolate can vary from company to company and from country to country but most of the time, it is the process followed by many companies to get the contents of chocolates to supply in the markets for further processing. And after some additional ingredients, you can enjoy a chocolate bar in your favorite variety that you can enjoy everyday.
